BRIEF:

Dance Collab is a medium scale dance event that aims to bring international dancers to Australia to pit their skills against the locals. I was tasked with creating the look of the event and all marketing materials.

SOLUTION:

They first required a fresh and impactful logo to bring attention to the event. The event name “Dance Collab” had a double meaning, first in the collaboration of two dance crews together to work on one event, and secondly brining international dancers to collaborate with local dancers to present a showcase at the event, creating an exciting and electric vibe. Keeping this in mind, I made the logo show a strong solid foundation like metal with thick lines and symmetry in the logo design. Also having a bright steel blue and silver colour pallet to invoke the imagery of metal, highlighting with red to make the logo pop like the old school 3d glasses.

The second iteration of the logo we wanted to keep the metallic theme of the logo, but also showcase elegance, as the guests that were invited this time were “royalty” in the Taiwanese dance scene. The logo was slightly tweaked to have a more reflective gold plated look to show this.

Having images of dancers and event guests on the promotional material also helped enforce the idea that this was a dance event, but also helped bring more colour variety to the posters, but also make the poster more dynamic and explosive.
